NOT RECOGNIZED AS SAFE FOR ANY USE IN HUMAN FOOD

The Department of Health and Human Services has declared that partially hydrogenated oils are NOT RECOGNIZED AS SAFE FOR ANY USE IN HUMAN FOOD. The food industry has until 2018 to completely eliminate these oils from their products. It was stated in their summary that this action results partially from citizen petitions and from the findings of expert scientific panels.

This demonstrates the power of the citizenry when it unites for a positive purpose. This ban addresses the Harvard School of Public Health researchers claim that trans fats are responsible for about 50,000 premature heart attack deaths each year which makes partially hydrogenated oil one of the harmful ingredients in the food supply.
